Banking safely

With the introduction of .ing as a new, top-level domain name for websites, it’s only natural that ING owns and maintains bank.ing!

While bank.ing is managed by ING, please be aware that any other domain ending with .ing is not an ING website. If you are in any doubt, go to ING in your area.

With online and mobile banking the most used ways of interacting with a bank, fraudsters are continuously developing ways to target clients banking through digital channels. As a result, we’re dedicating this page to educate our customers on how to keep their accounts safe and secure.

What you need to know as a customer…

  • Know what domain you use to access your account. Our full list of ING websites can be found at ING in your area.
  • Never give the codes to log-in to your banking system to another person (on the phone, via e-mail or WhatsApp, etc.).
  • If you end up on an online banking site via a link in a message, stop immediately.
  • ING does not send text messages with clickable links. Never click on a link in an SMS that appears to be from ING.

How do you prevent phishing?

  • Never give out personal details by e-mail or telephone.
  • Never give out your PIN, log-in credentials and one-time passwords.
  • Never enter your debit or credit card’s secret PIN on a website.
  • Never send your bank or credit card through the post. Always cut up the card and its chip if you no longer use it or it has expired.

ING will never ask you to…

  • Disclose your bank codes.
  • Transfer funds to an account that does not belong to you under the guise of securing your money.
  • Install software on your computer that allows remote access to your computer.
  • If you receive a call, allegedly from ING, requesting you to take action to stop a fraud, you are dealing with a fraudster. Hang up and call us.
